Visible Monday: What a Difference a Scarf Makes

One of the greatest thing about scarves is how they can completely change an outfit. Case in point: what I wore today.

Black V-neck sweater. Black pencil skirt. Black tights and shoes.

Here's what it looked like, pre-scarf:

Look at the difference when I added a leopard-print scarf I got at Target last year. I simply draped it over my shoulders and secured it in the front by slipping the ends through a $1.99 ring I got a while back at a beauty supply store.

I think the scarf is actually slimming, as it slightly minimized my large chest area and draws the eye downward, somewhat elongating the silhouette. (Don't I sound Tim Gunn-esque?)

I love leopard print anyway, and I also like the touches of red in the scarf that bring some brightness to the outfit.

The ring I'm using to hold the scarf ends together is so big and a little crazy, so I never wear it as a ring...but I think it works fine in this capacity.

Some of My Favorite Posts of 2011

If you blog, have you ever worked hard on a post, really put your all into it, only to feel it was completely lost in the shuffle and never thought of again?

Well, I decided to look back on 2011 and dig up some of my favorite posts that disappeared into the ether I hope you'll check one or all of them out when you have a moment!

January--Brisco County Jr, where have you been all my life?--Thanks to DVR, I fell in love with a TV show from several years ago.

April--A Royal Wedding, a Fairy-Tale Princess--I adore Duchess Kate, and I was all caught up in the royal wedding excitement!

May--Paris, Je T'aime--My pictorial homage to a city that I long to see.

October--I'm Finally Wearing More Scarves--I finally catch on to one of the more attractive trends of 2011 (and it's a trend that has staying power.)

November--Some of My Favorite Childhood Books--I celebrate National Young Reader's Day by reminiscing about some of my best-loved childhood reads.

December--It's Still a Wonderful Life--My tribute to what is probably my favorite movie of all time.

I'm finally wearing more scarves!

Since re-watching this video by Judy Chapman, AKA Modern and Mature, I am finally incorporating scarves into my wardrobe more!

I'm determined to use scarves more. It's awesome how a scarve can completely transform an outfit!

Here are just a couple of recent examples.

This scarf is one of a few my brother brought back from Afghanistan for the ladies of the family. I think it's gorgeous!

Coincidentally, in both of these photos, I've tied the scarf in a manner I learned from watching the Modern and Mature tutorial on scarf-tying. I plan to experiment with other ways, though.

This scarf was given to me a few years ago, and I'm sorry to say it has mostly languished in my closet until now. It's a bit shorter than some, but I think it's lovely.
