Monday Melange

Main Entry: mé·langePronunciation: \mā-ˈläⁿzh, -ˈlänj\Function: nounEtymology: French, from Middle French, from mesler, meler to mix — more at meddleDate: 1653: a mixture often of incongruous elements

Did you have a nice week-end? As usual, mine was too short! The weather was beautiful, and I got to spend some quality time with my husband. We are experiencing an empty-nest dry run, as my 21-year-old daughter is in Texas for a visit of several weeks.

Some stuff to tell you about:

--Well, what did you think of the "Lost" finale? Any favorite moments? (SPOILER ALERT! if you haven't seen it yet): I loved the re-uniting of Penny and Desmond...Kate and Sawyer's kiss (although I'm probably more a Jater than a Skater)...Sawyer calling the pilot "Kenny Rogers" and Jack "Sundance"...well, there were tons of amazing moments. Oh, and Yunjin Kim definitely needs an Emmy for her acting in the scene where Jin gets left behind.

So how am I going to be able to wait until 2009 for the next season?!?

--If you're a Jason Castro fan, you need to read Ashley's account of seeing his welcome-home performance in Rockwall, Texas.

--So Barack Obama will be looking for a new church.

--In the wake of the death of his 5-year-old daughter, people are opening their hearts and pocketbooks to Steven Curtis Chapman's adoption charity, Shaohannah's Hope.

--Are you suffering from "news fatigue"?

--Mrs Fussypants has made me laugh again! Check out Fussy's Frump Fightin' Manifesto.

Hi Cindy,

I don't watch "Lost" so can't comment about that. I wasn't a big fan of Jason's, but I was rooting for David A. in a big way. As you know he did get first runner up and will have a good career in music.

Hope your week has gotten off to a good start.

Thanks for the shout out! I really liked Jason Castro, though David Cook was my favorite. After hearing him sing in person, I liked him even more. And he's got a really great, down-to-earth personality.

On to LOST: SPOILER ALERT!!!

The Sawyer/Kate kiss was spectacular! (I'm a Skater!) I had read a spoiler that 3 people would die in the season finale and when Sawyer jumped from the helicopter, I thought he was going to be one of them. I'm so glad he made it to the island! Now... what happened to him when the island moved?

I'm sad that Jin died, but I wonder if somehow he was able to survive the explosion. He was so close to the water...

I was so glad to see Desmond and Penny get back together, but now I'm wondering about Ben's threat to Widmore that he's going to kill Penny...

I was surprised to see Locke in the coffin. I kept going back and forth between Michael and Ben; after Michael's obvious demise in the explosion, I was certain it would be Ben. When he spoke to Jack, I thought maybe he had faked his death and the coffin would be empty. Surprise!

Hi Cindy, Thank for your visit!!! I haven't been over here for a while! We didn't have a computer for quite a while this winter. But Thank Goodness we have Kelly's laptop back!

David Cook lives 8 miles from us and my grandson and his family live in Blue Springs, too!
So we were pulling for him! I thought they all did a good job this year. Well most of them.... love and hugs Grams

Empty nest--Doug and you have come full circle. Back at the beginning, just the two of you. It does take time to ajust but after awhile you'll love it. Plus with grandkids it a wonderful new world...even if you have only one for now.

As always with this large family of mine my weekend was full. As a retired person, my week seems like one day.

Enjoy you new phrase in life!

(SPOILERS!!!)

My favorite part of Lost was FINALLY finding out how the Oceanic Six got to be the Oceanic Six. I love that Desmond and Penny were finally reunited, happily! No one got shot (ala Sayid and Shannon)!

And, Cindy, HOW can you still be a Jack fan after he was SUCH a HUGE jerk to Kate and Aaron!!! He is not husband/dad material (not that Sawyer is either). Maybe Kate should end up with Sayid - now THAT'D be interesting. At least, he's capable of committing (and he's available now).

I also liked the no-show cameo of Mr. Eko! And the island disappearing under water - I totally didn't see it coming! Excellent reveal to water, water everywhere with no place for the helicopter to land!
