Back from Texas...and a sad note for my Fit Friday report
Well, my visit to Texas was wonderful. Payton's first birthday party was a fantastic experience. I was so happy to even get some one-on-one time with my adorable little grandson, and of course, I took tons of pictures! It was so awesome to spend time with all my loved ones there...and the weather...gorgeous. I'm a little bummed to come back to a foot of snow on the ground!
While in Texas, I was able to take advantage of the beautiful weather by going on walks almost every day I was there, so I kept up with my fitness regime while on vacation.
However...
I was all set to go to the TruEssence today (the gym where my daughter and I are members), and I got a surprising bit of news this morning. The gym is closed...for good! The owners are looking into filing bankrupty.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed. For the past five months, I have been a very faithful member of this gym...going there 4 to 6 times a week. I love this place...the atmosphere, the facility, the staff, the machines and weights have just been awesome. Not only have I lost money (I paid for a three month membership for my daughter, and she's only used about a month of it), but I'm going to have to find another gym...and I'm not at all sure I'll find one I like as much. For one thing, TruEssence is women only...I think there's only one other women-only faciliy here, and I think it's pretty pricey.
I guess I'll be doing the stationary bike and Pilates videos at home until I figure out what to do. What a bummer.
Well, this will test my resolve, but I'm not going to let it steer me off course!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed weekend!

Go to the other place and tell them what you were paying a month and what it got you. Tell them that you're willing to lay that down right now and you might be surprised.
I'm sorry to hear about TruEssence. I didn't know they were so close to going under! My company has several programs with them, and I, too, was impressed! Did they just have the one location? BTW, you're right about Lady Wellness - $$$! My old boss goes there, and that's the scoop I got from her.
Hi Cindy! Sorry about the gym; I know how it is to get used to a particular place and routine, but I know you will make this transition because it's important for so many reasons :) I get up every morning and check the weather to see if it'll be a day fit for walking. We've had a long wet winter here; I'm a little bummed, but not deterred. The sun will shine, and you'll find a new place. You hang in there, girl!
The gym closing is such a frustrating thing!! I am not sure if this is just a New England thing or not, but a gym called "Curves" is all the rage here. They are just for women and specialize in making the "real" woman feel comfortable working out. They are popping up in every town, it seems.
Welcome back! Glad you were able to enjoy the warm weather of Texas. Do you ever see Betty and Gary Boehm..or do they live too far away?
Sorry about the gym closing and the lost of money. I know people who had gotten tickets from the NAT and when it closed, they lost their money too.
I know you will find sometime and will keep us posted about your search.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Texas Cindy and your visit with your grandson. It's nice to see you back again. Sorry to hear about the gym closing. You were doing so well too. I know exactly what you mean, I prefer ladies only gyms too. Have you thought of another form of exercise you could do. Maybe you and your husband could go to dance classes? It's all the rage here in England. Salsa and ballroom are very popular. It's fun and good exercise too and something that couples can do together.
