  3. All the dogs I ever had were Golden Retrievers or Golden Retriever-mix. The best two were Jake and Big Boy. I really loved those dogs...

There's a patient in rehab at Baylor's fitness center where I work out who has a beautiful Golden Retriever assistance dog. It wears a blue vest that proclaims its "job" and has this notice on it: "Ask to pet me. I'm friendly!" It's wonderful to watch the relationship between that dog and his man.

I tend to like large dogs with lots of hair. I'm also fond of Irish Setters and Afghans.

But big dogs with short hair are nice, too. I would love to have a Greyhound one day. I know my husband would love to have a Weimeraner again.

    Fun topic!

  10. Cindy,

Good list. You may not remember this but when I was in Illinois at the station with you, I owned a poodle/terrier mix. I remember the day I had to take her to the vet for the final time. I came to the station and Ron took me into his office and consoled me. What a sad day. Still miss that little dog.

If I had a dog now and had the time, I would pick a Golden Retriever. They are extremely loyal and good-natured.

Your toy poodle is adorable. Plus, your hubby looks happy to have the dog! Grin!

    Be well,

    Randy

  13. I spend a lot of time at a dog park and I'd ay this list is well represented. I've also seen a few Great Danes and Greyhounds.

I have an Australian Cattle Dog. Or Red Healer.
She's a wonderful dog, but not good with children, as Monday through Sunday can attest. :(

  14. What a darling toy poodle. I am partial to toy poodles as I used to have one. She was white and her name was Gidget. She lived to be about 14 years old.

    Enjoyed your post today.

  15. Cindy,

You remembered! Yes, Teeny was a bright spot for many years. Ron was so compassionate when he called me into his office and wept with me! For he had to say goodbye to a canine friend himself a few years beforehand. However, Don G (we remember him) just shrugged, "I've put a lot of dogs down" and walked off! I was shocked at his indifference. Sad.

One lady told me recently that they can tell what a person is like by the way they treat children and animals. She has a point.

Thanks again for a wonderful Thursday Thirteen.

    Randy

  16. Hi Cindy,
I have owned many dogs over the years but alas,I am dogless at present. My favorite is a Bassett Hound but I see they did not make the AKC cut. You have a very cute poodle! Have a grand TT.
